Amethyst ~ Igniting a Spiritual Spark in 2021

Hello and welcome to the first of my new set of blogs for 2021. If you’d like to check back on the new Crystal Energy blogs for 2021 at any point, please scroll to the bottom of the page where the blog categories are shown.

I wrote back in 2014 about how the energies of crystals were starting to change. You can read all about it Here. As our World becomes more technology based, more frequencies are streaming out of the endless technology & gadgets that are everywhere we look. These additional, unnatural frequencies are altering the way some crystals work. Predominantly, the more Quartz based crystals as these are the most susceptible to external vibrations. However, others are also stepping outside of their traditional remit, which is quite magical to observe & experience.

I’ve been guided to tune in and update our crystal knowledge and bring it into modern times, which is exciting! Most crystal books were published in the 70s or 80s and unfortunately, many of the descriptions no longer resonate in 2021. Even the newer crystal books coming out seem to just copy & repeat the same information that has been around for decades. I’m good with that ~ as long as that information is still relevant. With regard to Amethyst, that isn’t the case.

Amethyst is one of the first minerals I’m aware of to go through this vibrational shift, probably as there is so much of it in the World, even here in UK (Cornwall & Derbyshire). It was already acting outside the traditional parameters back in 2014 when I wrote the above mentioned blog and has been shifting slowly ever since. One theory is that the spiritual crystals are shifting first, in line with Humanity moving into a new age of energies on every level. Not only that, but a new form has appeared called Pink Amethyst.

This is a misnomer as the very definition of Amethyst is ‘Purple Quartz’. However, the miners had no idea what to call it as it was located within known purple Amethyst mines in Brazil and forms in exactly the same way. It’s simply pink instead of purple and this could be down to a little iron or other chemical mixing in with the Manganese. Another source has recently been located in Argentina, which tells me this mineral wants to be known at this current time for a reason. There are still only small deposits at either mine, which is why it takes so long to obtain. We received one lot in 2020 and are hoping for two in 2021.

Amethyst was first discovered in the 1600s, with it’s name being taken from the Greek word ‘amethystos’, loosely translated as ‘not drunken/intoxicated’. It has been found in Ancient Egyptian ruins, Anglo-Saxon graves in the UK and on the remains of medieval soldiers all over Europe, who wore it as an amulet of protection.  The purple is said to come from Manganese, although this has never been fully confirmed. Amethyst can contain a wide variety of other chemicals. Auralite 23 for example, is a form of Amethyst, that is full of many different minerals & chemicals as is Super Seven (Melody’s Stone).

Amethyst is a mineral I will always love as firstly, purple is my favourite colour. Secondly, Amethyst comes in so many variations, colours and forms, depending on where it was found. I find all of them beautiful in their different ways and each brings a different energy to the table.

The purple forms of Amethyst, regardless of colour or formation, all vibrate within a set frequency range. The paler are at one end of the scale, whilst the Uruguayan (darkest) is at the other. Prasiolite (green) and Pink Amethyst both tend vibrate just outside of the purple frequency range, being more resonant with the vibrations of our heart than Third Eye, although the Pink fluctuates between both.

Purple Amethyst supports people in stepping onto a spiritual path. It’s why it’s the first crystal for many and can ignite a spark within us that connects us to our Soul. Not only that, it keeps us aligned with our Soul Purpose and truth, which is why we can be drawn back to it again and again over the years. If you feel like you’ve veered off your path at any point, reach for Amethyst and it will slowly move you back in the right direction.

Amethyst remains one of the most gentle, yet powerful crystal tools to help open our Third Eye Chakra or begin a new stage of spiritual development and growth. This is desperately needed in modern society as we have learned over the years to look after our physical, emotional and mental health, but the spiritual element is still missing for millions around the globe. Amethyst helps to connect us to our Higher Selves and the Universe beyond what can be quantified, so is an excellent tool for meditation, going inwards or sitting quietly to journal out some thoughts. If you’re drawn to it after being into crystals for awhile, this can be an indicator that you are about to shift upward in vibration (often before you realise). In this way, Amethyst helps to anchor our Spirit whilst we move into a higher state of being.

Amethyst can be supportive to our relationships and group work, ensuring that our Souls are connecting & fulfilling their contracts, regardless of where we’re at in our human, day to day lives.

It is still supportive of those who suffer from addictions and eating disorders, but works in a very specific way. If someone is in denial, it won’t help much at all. However, if someone is taking action on addressing their issues, Amethyst will support them fully in getting to the root cause. Nine times out of ten, it will be related to an imbalance of personal power. Amethyst helps us come from a higher perspective as to how and why we may struggle with issues around power, control, lack of self love or self sabotage.

Amethyst no longer supports us with insomnia or sleep issues as it simply absorbs too many EMFs to do so. Always cleanse Amethyst before use to ensure it is clear of any external vibrations and be firm in setting your intention with it. Don’t worry if you wear Amethyst or any crystal as jewellery because it is always coming into contact with sunlight (even on a cloudy day, we still have daylight & the UV rays required to cleanse crystals), so it will perpetually cleanse itself as you wear it.

Green Amethyst is called Prasiolite. Most on the market is heat treated, but I only sell the natural as it feels far nicer, even if it’s more expensive. Prasiolite is excellent for clearing out old, stagnant emotional energy from our emotional system. This may leave us feeling a little raw or vulnerable, but in vulnerability lies some amazing gifts. If you’ve been stuck in the past or are finding a past experience or person difficult to let go, then Prasiolite can help enormously. This beautiful crystal amplifies positive energy, encouraging us to take action and move forward with confidence. It is also helpful when we are going through deep spiritual lessons. This stone passed through fire from one state of being and came out the other side in another state. Metamorphosis! That is exactly what we go through when we learn spiritual lessons that open our mind, expand our consciousness & raise our vibrations. It is a lovely crystal to use during times of transformation.

Pink Amethyst differs from purple in that it has all of the same attributes, but draws in a powerful energy of love, self love, comfort and support. It’s a little like combining combining Amethyst and Iron Rose Quartz together in one crystal. So there is spiritual growth and development alongside emotional balance and support. The energy is so beautiful, all I can feel is LOVE the minute I connect to it. It’s very dreamy and romantic feeling, but with a core strength that is constant and stable underneath.

Physically, once it is cleansed and charged, Amethyst now feels very inspirational and joyful. It could often feel quite heavy on the Third Eye, even whilst it was opening things up. Now it is far, far lighter and feels more positive. Fresh is a word that comes to mind!

I could feel it working on my organs, heart & circulatory system when directing it to hone in on the physical body and the energy flowed throughout the nervous system and blood cells. It’s quite a bright, uplifting, cleansing feeling and felt a bit like I’d had an internal energy cleanse or energy shower.

Based on this, I’d say it’s good for keeping our blood clean and whilst detoxing. I experimented with using it like a hoover to suck negative energy out of my system, particularly any relating to unnatural vibrations. I don’t have a lot of them as I constantly wear Shungite, but it did feel ‘sticky’ and a bit crackly after use, so I popped it on the windowsill for half an hour to cleanse & recharge and it reset back to normal again.

Pink and Green Amethyst are better for spiritual and emotional issues combined (which is excellent as it’s always good to gain a higher perspective or get to the root cause of our emotions), whilst the Purple focuses more on the Third Eye and brain neurology. It doesn’t seem to do much with pain any more, which is a shame, but there are amazing crystals such as Malachite, Malacholla and Sugilite for that, which have dense far inclusions of copper (anti inflammatory) or Manganese (pain relief).

I hope you’ve enjoyed this updated take on Amethyst. If you’ve noticed any differences when using yours or any of the above resonates, please do pop a comment below as it’s wonderful to share our learning, experience and knowledge.

With love and bright blessings

  1. Hi! I have a question regarding prasiolite. I am trying to find more information about this stone and on another website it said: “Nearly all the worlds natural Praisiolite is either set into rare and very expensive jewellery or is in museums like the Smithsonian or the Natural History museum. It is unbelievably rare! The only way to obtain Praisiolite today is to heat treat Amethyst.”
But you have some natural pieces for sale that are quite affordable. Where does it come from? I mean where has it been discovered? Thank you for your time!

Hi Annu, that’s a great question. I would hazard a guess that the article you found is quite old as there have been 3 different veins of natural Prasiolite discovered in the past few years. Argentina, Columbia and Brazil. Yes, the gem grade pieces are crazy expensive and rare. However, the pieces I’m selling are a much lower grade, so there are inclusions, rainbows or patterning on the inside of the pieces that make them useless for jewellery making. Miners often just throw this away as ‘slag’ as it is pretty worthless to them. Prasiolite of this grade only has worth in the metaphysical market really. One of my suppliers has mining rights and has bought what the mine has considered ‘rubbish’ at a crazy low price and had the pieces tumbled so they can be used by all. I work ethically, so neither my suppliers nor myself whack on any extra pricing just because something is considered ‘rare’. The items are priced fairly based on their cost. I hope this goes some way to explaining things. Have a lovely day, with bright blessings, Krissy 🙂
