How Serendipity Crystals Began
Serendipity Crystals was created in 2005 by Kristy Hodges. At the time, Kristy was suffering from an injury that made it impossible for her to keep working at a desk in the corporate world of law & finance. So, Serendipity Crystals was born. It started off at car boot sales, moving onto events at church fairs and village fetes, then the largest of events such as the Royal Norfolk Show and Mind Body & Spirit events in Manchester and London and even onto events overseas.Â
The business grew from strength to strength, allowing Kristy & her son to travel all over the country, visiting the most beautiful venues and meeting the most magical, incredible people. In 2012, she moved from Norwich to Sheffield, to live with her partner as they had four children between them. After ten years of event exhibiting, it was time to stop and focus on having quality time with family. So, Serendipity Crystals was taken online ~ where it went on to grow into one of the best crystal retail & resource websites in the UK.
Kristy become a personal gemstone shopper, selecting amazing crystals & geological specimens for people’s homes, where she worked to realign & ignite the energy of the home to support and energise everyone who lived there. Kristy specialised in unusual crystals, those that are really hard to source, high end gemstone jewellery and incredible statement pieces for the home. However, her Soul called for her to rise into her Divine Feminine energy and step onto a different path as a holistic practitioner, psychic, intuitive astrologer and author known as The Clarity Queen.Â
In perfect, divine timing in August 2025, Janet Thornton, whom had been friends with and known Kristy since 2010 stepped into the picture and was the PERFECT person to take over the helm of Serendipity Crystals. You can read Janet’s Story Here.

About Me
When it comes to crystals, I received my first crystal when I was about 17 years old. A Tigers Eye pendant as a birthday gift from a dear friend. I loved it and wore it daily, it helped give me confidence, which is one of the properties of Tigers Eye.
After the illness, I attended LOTS of self-development classes and began to feel a HUGE affinity with crystals. The collection grew in earnest after that. I remember being drawn to a Blue Goldstone and, after buying one and several others at a fair, popped it under my pillow at night and had THE MOST AMAZING dream that I’ve ever had! I dreamt that I travelled back through past lifetimes and saw scenes from 5 different lifetimes over the past 1000 years. The first 4 were just snippets, but the 5th was vivid, showing a scene of something relevant that I needed to know at that time. It felt so real; and the bizarre thing was, the seller of the crystal said ‘Oh, this is a man-made stone, it doesn’t do anything, don’t expect much.’ Well, I was living proof that just a mere crystal and a meagre man-made one at that, woke up a part of my soul enough to bring through the exact information needed at the time. What a powerful reminder that we should always trust our own intuition and not just follow other people’s narratives!
The crystal collection kept growing rapidly over the years with many magical experiences along the way. I first met Kristy at a small fair in Norfolk around 2010. The array of sparklies on her stand was so impressive, it blew me away! After that I was even more hooked and have always loved Krissy’s penchant for the slightly bizarre and more uncommon crystals. Let’s face it, the more common ones can be found on practically every street corner!
I’ve had my own, small scale crystal business for a while, which has been geared towards Mind, Body, Spirit and craft events. Stepping over to Serendipity feels like a natural progression. It is an absolute joy to follow up Kristy’s legacy with Serendipity Crystals and I will do my very best to do it justice.
