Sunset Sodalite ~ Clarity, Strength & Confidence

Sunset Sodalite is a new stone to the market and is THE perfect stone for the current times. It is affordable and extremely effective.

Sodalite was first discovered in Greenland in 1811 and fast became one of the most popular ornamental stones of that century. It is usually a dark blue with veins of white and black running through it as shown below. People often confuse Sodalite with Lapis Lazuli, but Sodalite rarely contains Iron Pyrite (which high quality Lapis does) and is more of a Royal Blue than the vibrant Ultramarine Blue of Lapis Lazuli.

This new deposit of Sodalite has been discovered in Canada, blended with iron rich Feldspar, bringing bright orange, rusty colour veins and energy to the mix. Before anyone says ‘its dyed’, no, it isn’t. There are too many white veins all over the stone alongside the rusty orange for it to have been dyed (ie. if dyed, there would be only orange veins, no white). Sodalite isn’t a mineral that absorbs dye very well, so it would be blotchy, inconsistent and look pretty awful.

Sunset Sodalite is a blend of traditional Sodalite and Feldspar. This creates an energy that stimulates our mind, our ability to communicate and our sense of confidence/self esteem. It is a stone of honesty and seeing positive solutions.  It is a great stone to support scholars, students or teachers as it allows us to see the deeper meanings behind the things we learn and experience. 

Sodalite is said to aid our intuition and I believe it does this by bringing strong, calm, rational energy to our mind, allowing us to become more aware and in control of our mental thought patterns (a great meditation ally!). This brings clarity, which in turn creates the space for us to hear what our intuition is trying to tell us. The Sunset element boosts our solar plexus energy, so we trust and feel more confident about any intuitive information we receive.
