BSSK last did a show in Nottingham in 2004. At that time we used a sports centre, as we often did back then, but I am afraid Mind, Body and Spirit does not blend well with burly rugby players with muddy boots in the foyer!
Every year since then, we have hunted for a suitable venue in Nottingham. We have found some that tick all the boxes, but city centre prices in Nottingham are prohibitive for the type of event we wish to run. Our events aim to support the smaller, one man band exhibitors, the grass roots of the Mind, Body & Spirit scene, most of whom cannot afford the high prices of London and other large events.
We were therefore delighted to discover the Pitch Diner at Notts Forest. True, agreeing dates with football clubs can be tricky – the only safe month is really July, as the old season trickles on with friendly games and the new season starts early with them – but we managed to find a mutually agreeable July date, and so Nottingham, here we come!
The building housing the Pitch Diner is adjacent to the Brian Clough Car Park, has a talks area on the same floor as the exhibition, has two large lifts servicing it and will provide a drinks station during the event. The location is surrounded with eateries to suit all tastes and pockets too.
We hope all our Nottingham visitors that have trailed up and down the country to other shows will delighted with the new Nottingham show and tell their friends!
The birth of a new show is always exciting, but this one has an extra prickle of excitement as it has been so long in coming.
The show has over 70 stands and a full schedule of talks and workshops throughout the weekend.
The show also has all of the usual BSSK attractions – Zone of Tranquillity, a relaxing space to sit and reflect and the free prize draw for every paying adult. This is drawn at 4pm on the Sunday of the show – don’t worry if you are not on site, we ring and notify the winner and winners are listed on the website after the show.
Calling all children! If you are coming to the show with an adult, make sure to collect a Quest Sheet from the show reception and join the quest to find the twelve Magical Portals to Narwharlia, the faerie kingdom, as you walk around the show with your parent or guardian. Every participant receives a prize.
